"Projections for future carbon removal are unrealistically optimistic. Some climate scenarios project removing 10–30 billion metric tons of CO₂ annually by 2100 – a roughly 5,000- to 15,000-fold increase from today – with no scientific justification." https://drawdown.org/insights/heres-why-assuming-massive-growth-in-carbon-removal-is-reckless-and-unwarranted

"A farmer in a village may produce safe and ecological food, yet that food may never reach the plates of people in the same village. Instead, it may travel to the tables of wealthy and upper-middle-class consumers in cities. The price is higher, the market is limited and distribution often depends on specialised outlets, supermarkets and premium food stores." https://www.newagebd.net/post/opinion/319835/the-colonial-face-of-safe-agriculture

Lula! Lula! Lula! Lula! On this wonderful day when the beautiful Brazilian people gave such a gift to the world, we must rejoice. The fascists are stoppable. The extreme right are beatable. Hate and greed ultimately burns itself.

"The manosphere has built a rhetoric that demonizes stepping in to stop an assault or defending a survivor as ultimate violations of the “bro code,” which risks instant exile from masculine society. "Nvidia says its new data center design will fix AI's water problem" And if you believe that ... Big Tech are gangsters and the ultimate liars. Whatever "fix" Nvidia is proposing, you can be sure it will be extremely damaging to our environment. There is no "fix" for Big Tech. They are super greedy consumers of energy, water and materials. At their very essence, they are devourers.

"Modern industrial agriculture has been described as a method of using soil to turn petroleum and gas into food." "Approximately 1,500 liters (350 gallons) of oil equivalents are required to feed each person in the United States each year, and every calorie of food produced requires on average ten calories of fossil-fuel inputs. This is a food system profoundly vulnerable, at every level, to fuel shortages and skyrocketing prices. Both are inevitable." Richard Heinberg http...

On the day that Margaret Hamilton, whose software helped land Apollo 11 on the Moon, died at 90, it's worth noting why computer programming became so dominated by men. It wasn't remotely because men were better than women at programming. It was because, as soon as men realized how important programming was, they bullied and intimidated women out of the profession. And then smiled smugly and said: "Women can't program". https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx5yn46j41zpo

In old European symbolism, black was the color of life, Earth and fertility of the soil. The snake was the symbol of vitality, life energy and regeneration. It was feminine-oriented. What we know of as Western Civilization is built on the macho warrior God bent on destroying everything he can't control. It is a culture of violence. Modern Europe was born and reared in an orgy of war and torture. And so we face the ultimate environmental collapse driven by this Western cultural mindset

Western Civilization is the core driver of environmental collapse "Our current climate crisis has emerged from systems that granted colonial and capitalist powers dominion over nature. Overcoming this crisis requires recognizing that all beings are relatives and that caring for the land, water, and territories is a shared responsibility." Climate justice, therefore, requires reparations and direct investment in Indigenous-led solutions. https://www.culturalsurvival.org/news/jequitin...

Want a real transition? Shift the debate away from an energy transition narrowly focused on batteries, extraction, and global consumption toward a transition grounded in inter-species commitments, territorial responsibility, and reparation for colonial injustices. Human life depends on the life of other beings. Dignity cannot remain an exclusively human privilege. It must be extended to waters, forests, mountains, animals, plants, and all beings that sustain web of life. https://www.culturalsur...

"Communities of our ancient hunter gatherer forebears were likely egalitarian in nature and so matriarchal in social structure. Such societies are based upon maternal values, exhibiting as caretaking and nurturing negotiation-oriented communities, for women and men alike; a reality giving substance and form to the maligned mythology of a Golden Age of Matriarchy. Which only begs the question – What would our society be like if only we could escape the patriarchal rule?" https://www.anc...

Big Tech does everything it can to hide its true water impact Because of Big Tech super-secrecy, "the most honest answer to how much water AI consumes will remain a range of source-specific figures. In Frankfurt, Germany, the grid is currently so saturated that no new connections will be available until at least the 2030s. There, data centers consume about 41% of the city's electricity. In Dublin, it's double that. And data center electricity consumption is growing rapidly — it's expected to double by 2030 to about 945 terawatt-hours, around what Japan consumes annually, according to the International Energy Agency. https://www.dw.com/en/are-data-centers-really-bad-for-the-pl...
