The nonbinary names survey is now closed and the report is up! https://gendercensus.tumblr.com/post/823884861218635776/2026-nonbinary-name-survey-results There were over 11,000 participants, and over 20,000 names. Edit 2026-08-05: I have corrected the percentages along the bottom of the top 20 graph. The order and proportions of the bars are the same as before. #nonbinary #trans

Hi folks! 13 days left and we're well on the way to 27,000 participants, about 300 to go. I have nerdily added some notes to some graphs so that I can see what affects the numbers. If your gender is a rare and valuable Limited Edition, please click here to do the survey: https://survey.gendercensus.com #LGBT #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

I feel like the Fediverse will appreciate this: A new referring website is about to make it into the top 20, assuming that one more person comes to the survey from there. It's https://tildes.net, which seems to be maybe some kind of open source link aggregator. The Gender Census is currently at the top of https://tildes.net/~lgbt. It looks pretty good!

Only 25% of participants are over 30, so older people are under-represented in the survey results. Over-30s tend to find the survey via the mailing list emails and Facebook. People who use screenreaders, I have a question about graphs as images in the Gender Census report. Would you rather the alt text/image description was: 1) A very brief description such as "bar graph", and a link in the caption (under the image) to the Google Sheet containing the actual data and the graph 2) The numerical data as alt text, e.g. "nonbinary, 30%, 594. genderqueer, 25%, 456. etc." 3) Either of the above is fine 4) Something else that I have...

It's been going for over 10 years, run by an enthusiastic amateur volunteer, and these days it gets over 40,000 responses per annual survey. All results are written up into a report and published at https://www.gendercensus.com. #gender #LGBT #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA #CitizenScience #introduction #introducti...

RE: https://zirk.us/@StingrayBadger/116051712358302193 UK folks in the mood for a little bit of armchair activism, search online for your local library and check if the catalogue contains this book. If it does, contact your library and ask them to remove it. The article below has some talking points. #transphobia #activism

I just logged in to Patreon for the first time in ages, and found that there now *is* once again a deadline for changing your account over from "per thing" funding to "per month" funding. However, they also mentioned that they will be bringing in an annual funding option! Which basically solves all my problems with funding. :D I am relieved!!!!! Edit: Apparently annual subscriptions are already an option: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-gb/articles/3600417...
