  Mea culpa: A while ago I ranted about how the use of dialect in the public space in Norway makes it difficult for communication. I was wrong. And I apologize. I don’t know if Norwegians are language-tolerant in general, but someone with a broken Norwegian like me doesn’t have his opportunity to participate in the public debate curbed because of language. That tolerance should be appreciated and praised. And it goes both ways.

  Are there very active users on social.babb.no? I want to stop providing Friendica. I don't think the service evolved as I hoped, and it's a pain to maintain. Could those who use it let me know if they need/want to migrate?

  We have now closed this server for new users. Until we have better defense mechanisms, I decided to close the server for new registrations. There is a wave of fake registrations and it requires too much effort to keep up with it. Until Mastodon provides mechanisms to deal better with this, this server will be closed for new users. #mastoadmin

  I enjoy hosting my own email. I believe email has become increasingly concentrated in the hands of just a few providers. Recently, I considered migrating my mail server to Stalwart. After spending some time testing and evaluating it, however, I decided not to make the switch. I wrote about my experience and the reasons behind that decision.   I am in desperate need to move my Dovecot + Postfix mail rig to something else. All this because Dovecot stopped supporting replication between services. A lot of people recommended Stalwart. But it's so cluster centric, so full of little quirks, that I'm almost giving up. I just want redundancy. That's all. I don't want to install cluster nodes, a lot of cluster-based storage and databases.

  ** Maintenance downtown ** Today I'll perform some annual upgrades on our infrastructure. If you use some of the babb services, note that they might feel unstable or down. I'll start the work soon. Not sure I'll finish everything I have in mind, but at least OS and Kubernetes upgrade should be performed.

  @km@mastodon.babb.no the point with replication was of uttermost importance to me. The peace of mind it gave me, as well as being able to trust my service, was very important. My main email became exactly the one I operate :)
