The reactionary terrible takes on stoves are destroying me. We live in a world where almost everyone impulsively screeches at the idea of public health. Yes OBVIOUSLY people can't immediately switch out their stoves. WHICH IS WHY we need a public health campaign teaching ppl to ventilate when possible and a collective effort to pressure policy changes for better air quality to be part of residential building codes and renters rights. We could form solidarity but no, instead fuck kids I g...

@bicmay noweigh.org for peer reviewed science exploring how the conflation of correlation and causation contribute to fatphobia and worse outcomes across the board. Please rethink weight focused healthcare.

Does anyone have strategies to make reading easier with #VisualSnowSyndrome ? Screen settings or lenses or other things to try? I have so many things I want to read, most of them on electronics, but it's so much harder and more tiring than it was before having snow. I also make more typing errors than I used to cause I can't notice them as easily through all the visual noise. Please consider boosting on disability mastadon or medmastadon!

Okay but I've started running things my doctors say by chatGPT and it's SO HELPFUL so far. Yes yes drawback and limits and cautions and all that. But chat GPT explains things so much better and includes information they don't and doesn't give me fatphobia. When the doc says, "this test is good for ruling out X", chatGPT says, "this test has 85% specificity" THATS BETTER INFORMATION.

I just found a PA EPA letter to the community dated 2/8 that is telling people to clean their outdoor things with diluted bleach. I'm not a chemist but it seems to me that the risk of chlorine gas in that scenario is not zero right?

@bicmay Paywall so I can't see what exactly they are proposing, but I am highly wary of this. Mental healthcare is a whole field of expertise that cannot adequately be taught as a tack on to an already overburdened profession. If the proposal is to teach PCPs how to reduce ableism, stop gaslighting patients with physical problems by calling them "just anxiety", and network with therapists for better coordination of care, then okay. But not to poorly overtake another fie...

I've been hearing a lot of "red flag if a provider has openings" talk lately, so for anyone who needs to hear it today, sometimes providers have openings because they are taking good care of themselves. Do you really want a therapist that models operating at absolute max capacity all the time?

@PanickedFoodie Do you know of good guides for people affected? The only guide I found so far suggested cleaning objects with diluted bleach...which isn't the potential of creating chlorine gas in that scenario not zero?

So I have a neuroopthamologist appt coming up. And they will ask me to take off my mask for the tests saying it will fog up the equipment. But last I was there everyone only wore surgical masks and the ventilation was really meh. Any tips? Maybe a kind of tape to keep the fogging down?
