  I have to say that 18 months ago I was incredibly impressed with how well Opus and Sonnet worked and I annihilated so much tech debt with controlled usage of both models in certain areas of our infrastructure. We're so far down the path of model decay now though that Opus 5.5 is borderline not usable for anything important.   I did some side by side testing of opus and an MTP version of gemma4:26b I built as a general tool calling assistant and the results have been pretty spectacular. I only hit issues with context size but otherwise great performance as a general question answerer when cross checking data sources they both site. #llm #ai #homelab #gemma

  I’ve almost got Home Assistant rigged up for me to yell “Red Alert!” and have it change all my hue bulbs in my office and the hallway outside as well as all of my rgb fans in the server rack to dark red.   One thing that sucks almost more than anything living in a neighborhood with a common mailbox is when you get a package delivered to one of the parcel boxes but the mailman puts the key in the wrong mail box. I’ve lost hundreds of dollars to this over the past almost 3 years now. Whichever neighbors get the key seem to always keep whatever package I was supposed to get instead of just dropping it at my door at the very least. Caught the mailman today to get my package from yesterday though. 👍

  Medical stuff drains me. I took the entire morning off after an 8:30am appointment so I could just come home and crash for a few hours. We had some migration work finishing up last night at work. I knew there’d be issues today but I wasn’t moving my appointment just to be available. I really need other people to pull their weight. The entire enterprise can’t be dependent on me being available to troubleshoot systems I don’t have anything to do with or any expertise in working with.

  Taking advantage of my rewards from driving back to visit my mom got me a 3 night stay in Vegas to see the Chiefs play the Raiders and a concert for one of my favorite new bands over the last couple years. I just had to call the rewards line afterwards to stop trying to get me to book this trip a week after I booked it.

  The way the GrapheneOS mastodon account is ran makes me lose trust in the project. Does anyone else feel this way? Sure does seem like a place to mostly air petty grievances in addition to actual platform information and updates.

  @panda@pandas.social If you use the “company” account as your personal soapbox you’re only ever going to invite more friction with your actual project. It’s a losing strategy long term. Which is exactly my point here. I lose trust in the project as a whole right now instead of saying hey there’s this one guy who works on GrapheneOS that’s a little too online for my tastes. Because the surface area is exactly one account that represents literally everything. Anyway. My opinion doesn’t matter.

  I get why, I’m not really complaining, and I’m just happy for the access to the data. But man backfilling my local music library with lyrics from Genius and fitting in around their API limits is painful. I’d happily pay $50 or whatever to lift the guardrails for a week on my personal api token to get this finished. Ultimately I wish I wasn’t so anal about getting everything impeccably tagged but here we are. 🤷‍♂️
