Although I've not been a paid #Fark subscriber for some time I still occasionally visit and marvel at the quality of the comments there. This article by Fark's founder Drew Curtis is worth a read, and points towards a distinctly possible* future** for what was once an open web. https://fark.com/comments/blog1796/Fark-NotNewsletter-Not-Ready-to-go-on-cart *probable? **present?

#QuoteSunday for last week: "He knows all about art, but he doesn't know what he likes." – James Thurber For me it's one that could be applied ironically/sarcastically, to any situation in this world, to whoever is telling us they are fixing things. Do they have any interest whatsoever in fixing *anything*? That'd be silly, wouldn't it now.

#QuoteSunday "It is of interest to note that while some dolphins are reported to have learned English – up to fifty words used in correct context – no human being has been reported to have learned dolphinese." – Carl Sagan This can be applied to adult humans in position of power when confronted with every foreign human language, mode of dress, or custom. It should be way easier but what's the point when it's easier to be xenophobic?

The first paragraph isn't well-written but what a thing to behold. https://scienceblog.com/t-voyager-1-is-now-so-far-away-that-its-plutonium-power-source-is-quietly-fading-and-sometime-in-the-2030s-nasa-will-switch-off-its-final-instrument-ending-the-only-signal-ever-sent-to-us-from-interst/ The previous article (linked at the bottom of the page) also has a paragraph the ends craply too. Anyway, SCIENCE!

It's too hot. Yesterday, in one of the hottest days of this year here in NW England, my oldest daughter went on a 12km route march with the RAF cadets. Today, another march, 15km. It's too hot.

#QuoteSunday Erm… a bit late… 'Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term "dark matter" which is impressive, but he also coined the term "spherical bastard" to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more.' – from the 'sciencefunn' account on Instagram.

Going to deactivate Echofeed, it's posting old stuff from my Reddit history, and although some of it has an interest to me it's not what I want appearing here. A shame that I don't know if it's Echofeed or Reddit's approach to RSS feed that's at fault here.
