Cats can definitely count to 3. One of my cats was staring at me instead of going to her plate because I threw 2 kibbles instead of the usual 3 before setting down the plate. I threw the third, and then she could resume her routine.

Really sad to see people I respected take a big dump on PHP today. It was unnecessary. This is open source. Things run on too few donations and mostly unpaid work. These people work hard. They deal with entitled users in bug trackers. They sift through slop reports and slop contributions. They have to defend their infra from thieves who can afford to lose more money in an hour than they will not make in a lifetime. They have to drop everything when their unpaid project has an emergency.

Ah yes, a 10-step form with dozens of fields per page, with entire page resetting after you validate by pressing the next button. So if you don't know the validation rules upfront, have fun retyping everything a few times. I should have known when I saw a marquee tag on the home page.

Wow PHPStorm got so bad that at work, renaming any variable simply deletes every other occurrence without showing the rename popup. Good job with all that goddamn slop. I don't even have the mental energy to file a bug report. I really hope that JetBrains bankrupts when the bubble bursts or even before. People need to connect actions to consequences at some point. We need plenty of examples so others might learn.

If you ask most LLMs to give you a random number between 1 and 30, it will give you 17, then 23. That is until they patch for this specific question. 1.5 trillion dollars well spent. https://isaiprofitable.com/

I'm now self-hosting Grafana + Prometheus for my monitoring needs. That saves so much money. They're quite overpriced at 19 USD per month for smaller customers. It's almost as much as I pay to store and stream terabytes of video. I've been really optimizing the cost of operating phpc.tv

Just shaved over 16 minutes off a pipeline by baking installs and docker pulls into the base image of the test runner, so it doesn't have to do it in the pipeline. That's 16 minutes where it wasn't even running any tests. Just overhead.

This time, I submitted phpc.tv expenses in my home currency (CAD). I hope it will be accepted. Last time, I noticed that OpenCollective was messing up the exchange rate so badly that I got 27% less than the expenses I incurred. This translates to ~$74 per month, or $888 per year out of my own pocket, *despite* being supported by the community. That made no sense to me.
