Really sad to see people I respected take a big dump on PHP today. It was unnecessary. This is open source. Things run on too few donations and mostly unpaid work. These people work hard. They deal with entitled users in bug trackers. They sift through slop reports and slop contributions. They have to defend their infra from thieves who can afford to lose more money in an hour than they will not make in a lifetime. They have to drop everything when their unpaid project has an emergency.

I very rarely see such behavior on the Fedi, and it fills me with hopelessness. You can be a better person. You can feel angry and exhausted without hurting those on your side of the struggle.

@afilina@phpc.social I didn’t see any of that, and I’m grateful for it. I’m sorry you did. Fuck anyone who hammers open-source work. Seriously.

@afilina@phpc.social And never forget - admins who are too lazy to update their ancient systems because "it works, probably not if updated" and bosses who care more for money than secure systems are the biggest part of the problem.
