  So apparently all the coordination, planning and communications for organising No Kings events on Instagram have disappeared and the account admins have been suspended. So... here's the thing: DON'T PLAN YOUR REVOLUTION ON THE KING'S BLACKBOARD. The fact that organisers are depending on the availability of a platform run by any of the tech bros... well, it makes me think you aren't a terribly effective opposition.

  So I had a little adventure last night, helping to keep a tidal wave of bots at bay. Until last night, I had never actually watched the full Fediverse-wide feed. I just want to say that we are supremely blessed to have @stux@mstdn.social as an admin for our instances. Our little corner of the Fediverse is remarkably peaceful and civil and humane. This is such a perfect illustration of the obscene veil of geopolitical nonsense when it's pulled back. There are men who want to cling onto power.   As a Canadian-British dual citizen, I am begging #Albertans to take my word for this. The same forces who brainwashed so many people into voting for Brexit are drooling at the prospect of #Alberta voting for separation. This is what they do: it's called divide and conquer. And while you might have many legitimate reasons to feel agrieved, isolation doesn't solve your problems. It exacerbates them greatly. Brexit diminished the UK beyond imagining.

  The fallout from the eviction of a 87 year old woman, Maricarmen, from her life-long flat in Madrid has really shaken things up here. I'm so glad to see it. One woman interviewed from the huge protest said: "Why is it that our governments and our laws give more rights to a tiny few to make profits, but no rights for the majority to have a roof over their heads?Our taxes fund the existence of these governments and legal systems.   So, today I am firing my first set of test tiles with a low-temp glaze I formulated myself using the Glazy calculator (and after reading some truly excellent books on it - credits to Linda Bloomfield, Mary Fox and John Britt.) I am posting this so that, when my tests come out of the oven later, and they all look like shit, I will be forced to photograph them and show you my lack. #pottery #ceramics #glazes

  I do not belong to the Labour Party in the UK anymore. I have not for quite a few years. However, to tar the entirety of the Labour Party as anti-Palestinian or pro-Israel is as absurd as the original and causal tarring of the entire Labor Party as anti-semitic. However, there is some history here that needs to be addressed. There was a very tiny contingent within the Labour party who could not differentiate between the Israel and its policies towards Palestinians and Jews in general. 1/

  I am sure this lovely lady didn't mean it this way but, for those of us who have lived in poor places, the fetishising of handwashing comes off as obscene privilege. There are women - yes, they're always women - all over the world who either don't have electricity or can't afford a washing machine.
