Sometime in recent weeks a newly, purpose-built, Goodwill store has opened in McMinnville, Oregon. Unlike other stores built on a similar design, including my local store, this one has four single occupant, unisex restrooms. instead of men's and women's restrooms. It neatly sidesteps the current conservative trans-hysteria (irony intended). And provides a bonus of individual privacy and human dignity. Can't see how the transphobes could object, but I'm sure they&a...

What business doesn't seem to understand is that a better name for A.I. is not "Super Intelligence," but "Artificial Mediocrity." All it does is provide a guided paste of digested human work it was trained on. It will be no better, and likely worse, than the average. It will add nothing to the work beyond that other than the odd glitch. A human brings their life experience and judgement to the most casual work. That can be bad too, but it can also be B...

I've had problems with robo calls on my cell for probably a couple years now, but today is the worst day ever. 40 plus calls and counting, sometimes just minutes apart. Should change numbers, but I risk breaking who knows how many two factor authentications and accounts I rarely need to access. More proof we live in the Worst Timeline... #robocalls #phones #spam #worsttimeline #security

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@codinghorror/117315132822988336 I've been feeding my local crows daily since 2020. We have a thing, but we are not friends, and that's fine. You rarely can befriend a crow, but you can certainly enter a contract.

RE: https://wandering.shop/@JSteven/116870014952217300 Follow up to this. She still is very treat-driven, but we do make distinctions and use other buttons, especially play, pets, training and "all done." "Water" is a special thing. It means water, but it often means SOMETHING else, that I can't figure out. Perhaps just "thirst" in a more general sense, such as, "I want something from you." Attention? Cleanup? Play?...

@jdnicoll My theory about this is that Musk's goal has ALWAYS been just to get himself to an off-planet colony before he dies. He once said that he planned to retire on Mars, and his totally unrealistic Starship timelines reflected this. Now even he's he's realized it isn't happening (in time anyway), and the moon is his only chance. IMHO, he's welcome to leave. But I predict him as "first one to get eaten if the food runs out."

@SRDas Hey! Remember years ago when Elon promised us pretty-much this? And now... (Checks notes.) We still don't have that. Too early to see any pattern from that, though...

So, I'm back from the NO KINGS march in Salem, Oregon, and have been offline. How's it going, fellow internets kids? NK was big, enthusiastic, and very chill. Things happened. I had emotions. I have thoughts, mostly positive. I will share at length later . #nokings #oregon #salemOregon #resist

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@kcarruthers/116058910548809426 Considering my knees (not to mention my wife's spine) are basically rubbish, this would be fantastic.
