UPDATE: Now look what we have here … a Chrome Extension that does the job! Review is still pending, so you can’t find it on the Chrome Web Store just yet. Maybe later today, or maybe tomorrow … no one really knows. The source code is publicly available, so you can clone it and load it unpacked if you want: https://github.com/bramus/mastodon-view-profile

@bramus@front-end.social great extension. I hope someday that can be built in thanks to a "shared" session or so. No idea how it would be possible. For now, I will install the extension.

@bramus@front-end.social Hi! Great work! Just a favour, could you implement the what is mentioned in this blog [1] as well? The follow button click action may be idk, "overwritten" so it launches a small pop up window with a remote-follow dialog? I think that'll be a smooth experience too! @bramus@front-end.social I'm excited to try this! Thanks for making it. I'm also working on a Chrome extension (my first) that easily modifies URLs, but it's not Mastodon related. I'm hoping to submit it next week.

UPDATE: Found way to hijack the follow dialogs on other mastodon instances, replacing that “you need to copy and paste this” thing with a follow button that points to the instance that hosts your account. Still a lot of clicks, though. Maybe I could automatically redirect some things (such as profile pages all together)? Perhaps not by default but behind an option you can enable?

@bramus@front-end.social Any chance of uploading that to the Firefox Addons site too? (Firefox also uses webextensions, so it will probably work without much if any porting effort)

@bramus@front-end.social Nice! Only thing I changed is to alert when I'm already on my instance, as I was confused when trying out the bookmarklet on a an account on my instance and nothing was happening 😄 https://gist.github.com/floscr/7159753feda0f8c0fb0cf0715c603db0#file-bookmarklet-js-L6

@bramus@front-end.social Just a reminder to folks. Microsoft Edge is Chromium now. This extension works on Edge. Just go to the Google Chrome Store link in Edge and install it. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mastodon-view-profile-on/limifnkopacddgpihodacjeckfkpbfoe/related
