@scathach@stereophonic.space @ug@brain.worm.pink can you imagine if there was a fundamentals of software engineering exam, rigorous standards for code annotation etc? things would prolly work better but would never be fast enough for the "move fast and put untested in prod" crowd

@scathach@stereophonic.space @ug@brain.worm.pink like, if a civil engineer tried to practice the way most software "engineers" do they'd either get fired for wasting materials or arrested for using criminally insane techniques that inevitably fail. there are people who went to software engineering school but as you are well aware they are in the minority and probably overlooked precisely because they're aware of how the shitshow (doesn't) works
