@scathach@stereophonic.space @ug@brain.worm.pink like, if a civil engineer tried to practice the way most software "engineers" do they'd either get fired for wasting materials or arrested for using criminally insane techniques that inevitably fail. there are people who went to software engineering school but as you are well aware they are in the minority and probably overlooked precisely because they're aware of how the shitshow (doesn't) works

@scathach@stereophonic.space @ug@brain.worm.pink of course what makes this all that much better is how integrated software is with everything else... a long while back I read IV infusion pumps had fucking TELNET just goatse guy open (prolly a fuckup on some biomed engineer's part to be fair (when I was (doomedly) studying to be one they could not into computer))
