This post sparked a lot of discussion and some of the more thoughtful responses pointed out that social media is often used get engagement without entering a dialog and that mastodon does not foster that.
I wonder if there is any data analysis of this, e.g. calculating a gini score of follower counts of a bluesky sample vs. a mastodon.social sample?

@simulo I just supervised a bachelor thesis on that topic, if you feel like giving it a skim: https://fietkau.science/teaching#bsc_szepielewicz Results seemed mostly inconclusive, might need cooperation with someone deeper in the quant world than me to refine.
