I'm already using EmulationStation, which is a nice frontend for playing the games and getting metadata. But when it comes to actual configuration of the emulators, controller bindings, etc. I'm SOL

Also it's a crapshoot whether or not any regular window (i.e. the emulator's settings) launched in Game Mode will be scaled properly. Sometimes you end up launching an app at 1x scale on a 4k TV and you have to walk up to it and squint to know what's going on. So instead of that, you end up going through the tedium of switching to desktop, trying to launch the app and navigate the settings with a controller, and then switching back.
