@ratcatcher@beige.party Yes, I did a couple years ago. It wasn't too bad; the two dosages each knocked me out for only a few days. But it beats the alternative of shingles!

@ratcatcher@beige.party yes. Other than FLATTENED with fatigue, I was fine. Of course the pharmacist threw it in on top of 4 other vaccines I was getting for travelling in Africa, so… YMMV.

@ratcatcher@beige.party yep. Two years ago if that’s the latest. Thank science for that because shingles made me almost lose my mind.

Thanks for all the replies to this. In summary, a few people sailed through with little discomfort; most were quite unwell after the first or second dose (more commonly the second), rarely both. But without exception, people said it was worth it, however unwell they felt. Many related their own experience of Shingles, or that of a close family member, asserting that it was MUCH worse than any side effects from the vaccine. So I will go ahead and get vaccinated ASAP, even though it's expensive here (nearly €500 for the two doses) and not covered by HSE (the national health service) at the moment.

Got my first dose of the Shingrix vaccine yesterday afternoon. No side-effects for a few hours, then I started to feel a tiny bit light-headed and my arm became very slightly sore. Slept well. Woke with some generalised muscle and joint pain and my arm was very tender. All in all, though, very mild so far. The nurse suggested I take a couple of paracetamol but I haven't felt the need for any painkillers (not even wine).
