Created a free trial subscription to the Atlantic so I could read James Fallows' 1996 article "Why Americans Hate the Media". I forget who recommended it to me, but a good read. tl;dr Shift to focus on horserace politics and away from issues that actually matter. Things are if anything worse today at big networks, but the information is out there if you're willing to put in the work.
