#Cats from my past, a thread/2 Then there was Elmo. No video this time, I don't seem to have any video footage of him. Elmo came into our lives around 2000 or so, I think. So he and Figaro shared the territory for a good amount of time. Elmo was a fuzzy, fluffy little buddy, who loved pets, but also showed you when he had enough. As is evident from the second picture 😂 That is my hand he is about to bite. We did have a few other cats during Elmo and Figaro's reign, and Elmo made best buddies with them instantly, while Figaro didn't really care. There was Muru, a white cat with black spots. She wasn't with us for long, sadly, barely made a year. I also don't seem to have any photos of her. Then there was Lulu, who is in the third picture, a grey kitty with a white nose and paws. She was Elmo's favorite. She came to us as a kitten and they hit it off right away. Always napping somewhere together, either side by side or just within a paw's reach. Elmo made it to four or five years old. He jumped/fell off a tree and hurt his back legs. I will say, knowing what I know now, I believe my parents made some questionable decisions on the fates of our pets. I'm sure in Elmo's case something certainly could had been done, but my folks decided it wasn't worth the cost.

#Cats from my past, a thread/3 Lulu, who came to us as a kitten. I mentioned her in the previous toot. She was a sweetheart, quite sociable. And she loved Elmo to bits, they were best friends. Lulu got pregnant. We know it wasn't Elmo, because both him and Figaro had been neutered by then. But she hadn't been spayed, yet mom insisted she should be allowed outside, too. Despite what had happened to Muru. Anyway, she had met some other kitty on one of her adventures, and came home with a little secret. Mom suspected, but didn't want us to tell dad. I don't remember why. Lulu had four kittens. I was quite fascinated by this even, and watched over her the entire time. When she got too tired with the last one, I feared the fourth kitten wouldn't make it, so I helped her a little bit. The fourth one seemed like I had been too late with my helping, but with Lulu's meticulous cleaning and nudging, he did make it after all. And because of that I decided that he would be the one who got to stay with us. The other three of Lulu's kittens got new homes. In the third photo there's the fourth kitten on the left, Leevi in the middle and Alma, Lulu's lookalike, on the right. There was also Poju, who went with my other sister.

@quester@mementomori.social so many! Elmo reminds me of one of my cats, especially the last photo! I'll have to see if I can dig it up. Tbh sometimes the vets suggest things and people just go with it. I'm sure one of our cats had questionable things done by the vets/not done. We did actually have one occasion where the vet said we may as well not treat her as she wouldn't survive the night. Well, she did. She survived another year after that (she was very old lol)
