First time I've ever had a #FountainPen section crack. The most surprising part is that it did so in two places, while sitting untouched in a case, between the last time I used it and now. I'm not heartbroken about it; it was a cheap $5 plastic pen. I'm just confused. I'm especially confused - aside from it cracking while in a case - because I have an identical pen in a different color (but with the same section) that I bought at the same time, and it's totally fine. :thonk:

@ldottxt@kind.social I had a Preppy arrive cracked (around the body threads.) Cheap plastic is cheap. (Not cheap plastic can also crack spontaneously, as I learned with a TWSBI Diamond Mini.)

@ldottxt@kind.social Depending on the plastic there can be all sorts of factors that go into it. Sometimes it's just random, manufacturing differences, etc. Could even be from hand sanitizer/isopropyl. I ordered two WingSung 698 pens at the same time, handled and treated them both the same, yet one cracked and its twin did not. Similar story with some Jinhao 82 pens. I have five and one cracked but the others didn't, yet they all were in the same rack on my desk and used approximately the same amount.
