@kytta Does it count as "stealing" the data when the purpose of OSM is to create a globally-maintained "ground truth" of the map?
I mean, that's like going to the library and "stealing" the definitions of words by copying them out of a dictionary, right?

@mark@mastodon.fixermark.com @kytta@polymaths.social AFAIK just copying another dictionary for your own dictionary without even attributing it is not considered ethical. And data scraping for the purposes of representing that data as your own is often called "stealing" in common parlance.
