Don't let the suits & bowler hats fool you. The #OrangeOrder is a hate group, just as much as any thugs in black balaclavas. The #Drumcree dispute is not about the hate group's freedom to march. The Orange Order has uncontested routes between #Portadown & #Drumcree. This is about the hate group's demand to march on the Garvaghy Road, past the homes of the people they hate, and who they terrorised in the 1990s. It is not culture & tradition. This is intimidation by a #HateGroup. #nipol

In the 1990s, as the #Drumcree crisis peaked, #RosemaryNelson was solicitor for the Garvaghy Road Residents' Coalition #GRRC. In 1997, Nelson was assaulted & threatened by #RUC cops. In 1998, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Solicitors, Param Cumaraswamy, said that he believed Nelson's life could be in danger. On 15 March 1999, Nelson was killed by a loyalist bomb under her car. 27 years later, courts want the #OrangeOrder back on the #GarvaghyRoad. 😡 #nipol

  • @2legged@mastodon.ie I grew up in the west of Scotland and these bastards blighted every Saturday in summer. That their marches are tolerated at all upsets me. After I moved to Australia, waking up on Saturday morning in summer without hearing the dissonant tootle of their hideous flutes have me a sense of peace.

@2legged@mastodon.ie Interesting that the youngest of the lot is the standard bearer. I guess the older ones are too weighted down holding grudges to do any useful work.
