@alice@lgbtqia.space that does make sense. I guess there's also the option of having a "primary" tag (like #/YFN4FNM) at the top of the post, and then optionally including any single-code tags at the end of your post where Mastodon collapses them up (so, #/YF4N, #/YN4N, ...etc, although the user could intentionally not include the #/Y*4M tags if they wanted). I suppose as much as it's a temptation to make a perfect data model that encapsulates all of this complexity by letting a computer handle it, it seems the designing principle behind this system is to keep everything human-readable so that a user who's running just standard Mastodon or other Fedi software can still participate. Would that be a correct understanding? @Quasit@beige.party

@riverpunk@defcon.social indeed. I'd love to see a plugin that makes it easier to see when someone is in your pool, or in the wider Datestodon group, but I want this to require zero hardware/software/login/etc. beyond your base Fedi account. Why? Because that keeps it accessible for everyone on any Fedi platform, and it makes it enshittification-proof. No one can steer it into a bad place, no one can harvest nonpublic data, and no one can charge or advertise for anything, because it's just a public park with some signs pointing towards potential attractions. @Quasit@beige.party
