Before 1993, women weren’t allowed to wear pants on the Senate floor. That changed when Sen. Moseley Braun (D-IL), & Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) wore trousers - shocking the male-dominated Senate. This eventually led to the dress code being clarified to allow women to wear pants. Credit: Liberal Jane Illustration http://liberaljane.com

  • @Sheril@mastodon.social That's nice to hear! ❤️ I guess no one can wear anything symbolizing Palestinian freedom and indepence.

@Sheril@mastodon.social The next set of presidential candidates of the US, (assuming there is a fair election and a decent remnant of the US come time) had best be women - this place has been and is getting more ridiculous by the second - we need some sanity and stability that hasn't been offered or provided for a while

@Sheril@mastodon.social That Senator looks a lot like AOC. Did I miss something, did she get a promotion?

  • @Sheril@mastodon.social I'm GenX and was recruited by (at the time) the Big 6 Accounting firms in 1997. They still required women to wear dresses (except on casual Fridays not on site with customers). This is a flashback to the attitude: https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Dress+code%3a+how+are+CPA+firms+handling+the+trend+toward+more+casual...-a016955504
