I am kind of sad I'm not quite important enough to have them want to put me on some wall so I could tell them to go fuck themselves.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange as one who grew up in a-town, I’m looked down upon by many snobby Napervillians. I honestly can’t blame you for wanting to disassociate from Naperville.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Australia has its own brand of class warfare. Not better, but different. Watching the Labor party systematically ceding to cash is not so much embarrassing as depressing.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange Chicago is and was the nearest big city that Betsy was "from" in Iowa City, Iowa. I'm sorry. For what it's worth, I got you.

@hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange In certain cities beneath our radiant Southern Cross (cough Melbourne cough Adelaide cough) asking what school you went to is a bit of socio-economic sizing up. Probably not true in Chicago, but the point is, by realising it's an (unconscious) game, you can flip it back and make them feel awkward. Prima: What high school did you go to? Secunda: Oh, it's not around any more, I graduated a while back. If they press further, they'll look like the weirdo in the interaction.
