In February I personally started transitioning away from my decades old GMail account. It's still a work in progress as I underestimated just how embedded Google is in my everyday online transactions. My family members still use Google apps so I'll always have some level of data security to deal with. But I'm working on it. This past month I dumped Chrome and moved to a new private alternative - #Vivaldi and so far I'm happy with the choice. #CDNdid

@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty@thecanadian.social My current goal has been to shift away from OneDrive, that I've been using pretty heavily. It's annoying since I like OneDrive, but I'm looking to drop my Office 365 subscription so that has to go. I've been moving my files over to @protonprivacy@mastodon.social Drive for the past several days. It passed all my tests and looks to be reliable enough, plus the built-in privacy is a nice cherry on top. I should be done with this in a few days! #CDNdid

@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty@thecanadian.social I've already been on Linux for years but I did find something I could improve: I have moved my Virtual Machines from Oracle VirtualBox to QEMU. That was a few days of figuring things out and shoveling backups, but it's done now. The Linux VMs are faster, but the Graphics in the Windows VM are a bit laggy with heavy duty applications. Still need to fiddle with that bit eventually.

@ElbowsUpforDigitalSovereignty@thecanadian.social Moved all my podcasts onto a home server w/ VPN, and cancelled my Spotify account. Ditched Feedly for FreshRSS, also self-hosted.
