In the next life, spirits cannot help but speak what is in their heart. They no longer have a physical shell to cover themselves as a mask. Their true nature is shown for all to see.
In this life, however, people can speak kindly, with a smile on their face, but inside their heart is found hatred, envy, pride and covetousness. So, kind words can be deceiving.
All of us have, as you said, been confused, tired, frightened, and wrong. Sharing the truth with the aim to help is love.

@Earl@mast.john1126.com Yes, I understand what you mean about kind words being used as a mask. That can happen. I would only be careful about claiming too much certainty about the next life. I don’t know what spirits do or do not experience there. That belongs to faith, not direct knowledge for me. What I can work with is this life, this moment, and the intention behind what I say. I agree with you that truth spoken to help can be love. But I also think truth needs humility. Without humility, “truth” can easily become another form of attack. For me, kindness is not pretending. It is truth without cruelty.
