at the end of the podcast, they talk to @evan@cosocial.ca but they don't discuss this possibly very serious security issue with mastodon. that approving one bad account breaks the entire approval process. or maybe they or I misunderstand the problem. my server is small but I haven't experienced it. I see bots but don't approve them and they remain pending and don't post. but let's go beyond this confusion and talk about bots and unwanted content and replies...

generally, fedi folk are very concerned about anybody having a bad experience here. and obviously nobody paying for a server wants to be involved in a russian misinfo campaign. being told you are facilitating that by people way more knowledgeable than yourself is gonna freak you out. but what are we really talking about, compared to running a blog with comments back in the day. you have to moderate. the more popular, the more work that is. are you hosting a community or being a media outlet...
