@Gnomeshatecheese@spinster.xyz As a Pilates girl… I personally dislike the look of leggings / yoga pants, so I wear alternative styles (wide legs, harem pants), but idk what other women wear. As previously mentioned, though, Pilates (done right) is largely non-sweaty outside a couple of summer weeks here:. Never been in an AC’d studio. Not seen the video. though.

  • @flick@spinster.club @Gnomeshatecheese@spinster.xyz It's been a while since I was wearing authentic athletic wear out in public, now I kind of just wear a T shirt and black wide leg pajama bottoms to go on a neighborhood walk...but when I did wear it, I always felt like as long as my ass is covered - I'm looking decent. Because let's be honest ladies...leggings literally leave nothing to the imagination. And I never enjoyed the thought of strangers knowing the exact shape and look of my butt cheeks. So I used to wear leggings and a long tank top or something along the lines of these. It might be tight and showing the contour of my body, but at least it covered my ass and looked half way modest.

  • @flick@spinster.club I think most of these little-more-than-a-bikini wearers don't do things like pilates. They seem to show up almost exclusively in weight training gyms, at least going by social media posts. And it's very clearly a fashion style that's popular right now, one that typically seems to go with a full face of makeup*. *This I do not understand either. When I go to the gym I want to be able to wipe my face and sweat without having to worry about making a mess. And the thought of having my face covered with fully waterproof makeup during exercise is just straight up icky to me.
