Ace people, beginning in childhood, are conditioned to believe the only way we can experience love and connection with others is by enduring something deeply uncomfortable or downright repulsive. A lifetime of shunting that discomfort leads to distrusting all the other discomforts and internal warnings that tells a person the situation is wrong or unsafe.
