How is it that someone who isn't even an elected official yet, gets scrutinised for taking a few days to recover from sickness, but an actually elected official disappears for months and when people inquire, they get told to respect said person's privacy?

You should have seen local social media. He was getting smeared by the right claiming he went into hiding, he was scared, he was quitting the race etc…
