Knowing
that books
are cut up,
scanned,

thrown away
or even burned
is a cruel realization for me

It's simple You could have acquired this data legally in digital form. You could ask if you're allowed to do that. Not everyone wants their work fed into these things. There's a big difference between a human being reading a book or a scientific treatise and a machine devouring it. 2/3
