I've got into trouble in therapy settings over this, and was interested to learn later that I'm by no means the only autistic person this has happened to.
Because what are my/our experiences without context?
How, for example, examine a hetero relationship without bringing the issue of patriarchy into the room? The issue of racism without ever mentioning the therapist being white + in a position of power? The issue of being neurodivergent in a world not designed for us?
Things can't be solved that way, to my mind.

@KatyElphinstone@mas.to Oh, that makes sense. What I've just realized is that I think that I have trouble understanding/remembering that many people see isolated circumstances rather than how they connect to the whole. Like ascribing people's situations to "luck" or "laziness" or "decisions" or some other factor when there's a whole series of events, and a whole host of factors, some of which are obvious and some of which are not, that brought a person or a group to a certain moment in time.
