What I've just realized is that I think that I have trouble understanding/remembering that many people see isolated circumstances rather than how they connect to the whole. Like ascribing people's situations to "luck" or "laziness" or "decisions" or some other factor when there's a whole series of events, and a whole host of factors, some of which are obvious and some of which are not, that brought a person or a group to a certain moment in time.
