@CosmicRami And they're both such seasoned astronauts in their own right! Bravo to both 👏👏 Great photo! Bienvenue Integrity !

@CosmicRami It is important and I celebrate it, but I worry that Artemis is also a project of oppression and inequality. It is in league with Nazi Musk. It is opening a path for capitalist exploitation of space. Unlike Apollo, it comes in the midst of a climate emergency here on earth. All my enthusiasm for space is erased by this dissonance.

@CosmicRami i, for one, am going to celebrate and bask in their triumphant achievement. Humans, as @blogdiva might say, are punk af. Forget the orange menace for a day, love the heroes in orange for a bit.

@CosmicRami It's such a shame ppl are still thinking in colors and genders. Who cares? They are just humans.

@CosmicRami Yes and no. PoC and women aren’t trained monkeys who you’d not expect to deliver such a great achievement. The world has been a jerk for ages, ignoring that PoC and women are no different.

@CosmicRami This gives “rebel alliance” vibes while ICE stormtroopers give “galactic empire” vibes

@CosmicRami FWIW the orange suits are known colloquially as "pumpkin suits". These ones are a modified version of the Advanced Crew Escape Suit (ACES), called the Orion Crew Survival System (OCSS). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Crew_Escape_Suit

@CosmicRami I didn't even think about it when I saw that picture, a normal portrait of members of a normal space crew. 🤦♂️ But of course, historical! @Mabande

@CosmicRami I hate how dystopic this actually is, when you think about it. This is news in 2026 and not from the 1960ies.

@CosmicRami Good for her! Finally! :blahaj: Too bad the other one's the dipshit who pulled the "nO aThEiStS iN sPaCe" :SpongeBobMock: horseshit. 🙄 Quoted by the "lovely" people at Focus on the Family, even. Gross. 🤮

@CosmicRami Also the whole project was an example of international collaboration to my understanding.

@CosmicRami I'm more impressed with the Canadian, who I notice was missing from the TV coverage of the crew's return to Earth on SBS news.

@CosmicRami @rpmik What's sad is that we had to wait until 2026 for it to happen.

@CosmicRami No. It's not important. We're in the 21st century, being black or a woman is no longer a handicap in the West (greetings, Mr. Obama). Glover and Koch are consummate professionals with a wealth of experience, not tokens. The issue, if anything, is that Trump's cancellation of diversity programs might mean they end up being the last ones.

@CosmicRami I wish I lived in a world where this wasn't something out of the ordinary.

@CosmicRami I was SO happy to see them smiling and waving from the "front porch". Astronauts were my heroes as a kid, I watched from the BEGINNING, like Sputnik., and they still are. How wonderful to see these shining faces represent the USA.

@CosmicRami Best part of the whole mission, IMHO. Look at these icons. Opening the door for many others!

@CosmicRami Wait until the first Chinese Taikonauts land and walk on the Moon.
