@TheDonsieLass@mas.to Lefty here, also smallish hands. I have lots of fun with a kaweco Steel Sport, which is cute, writes very smoothly, fits in a pocket, and is very solidly built. If that's too eavy, there's the Kaweco AL sport. The brass sport is gorgeous, but likely too heavy. I use an M nib, but there are all sizes. A fast-drying ink is de rigœur I quite like Herbin ones, Rose Cyclamen being my favourite, or Eclat de Sapphire for official writing. Lastly, is well below your budget!

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to have you looked at the kaweco sports ? small pens in a variety of materials from plastic to titanium. They write quite nicely & my lefty friend finds them comfortable

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to 👻 Not a lefty myself, but on recommendation FROM a lefty, I use a TWSBI Vac700. They also make a shorter version as well, so that might be something to look at?

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to Pilot Metropolitan is a good option. Or various plastic TWSBI models will be lightweight. Some TWSBI have the triangular grip if you like that about the Safari.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to For something you just throw in a bag, Pilot makes disposable fountain pens: Precise Varsity Pre-Filled Fountain Pens. You can buy a bundle for pretty cheap.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to I was gifted a Ferris Wheel Press fountain pen ink while I was still using some cheap pens from AliExpress, so when I wanted an upgrade I bought a Ferris Wheel Press Aluminum Carousel pen. It's heavy, but incredibly well balanced and, due to having an aluminum body, extremely durable. I can't really compare its nib and writing quality to anything else since I'm using their glittery inks that sometimes feel rougher, but I've been really enjoying writing with it 😃

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange may have some ideas? (I am a gel heathen because I have hands suggesting my forebears took their time coming down from the trees with a writing style halfway between carving in wax and amateur leatherwork)

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to I don't specifically know what lefties need, so I'll recommend straightforward pens. The Pilot Explorer is a good, basic pen. It uses the same nibs and feeds as the Kakuno/Metro/Prera family. Speaking of Prera, if you need it to be shorter for posting, the Prera has a wonderful slip cap, and makes a great travel pen. Also the Metro. The Tuzu has an adjustable grip, which might help a lefty? I've never tried one. Finally, there are *lots* of Indian pens in that price range.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to The Pilot Metropolitan is a good no-nonsense fountain pen that is well under your budget.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to Right handed, but also smallish hands prone to fatigue. I'm extremely fond of my Kaweko Perkeo, and at £15 it's cheap enough to try out without blowing the budget if you don't like it. I don't like posting but it seems to post well. Don't know how well it would stand up to being tossed in a bag because I tend not to, but the cap fits firmly.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to @snaptophobic@mastodon.me.uk I like both the platinum preppy and the prefounte Way under your budget though

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to I have small hands. I tend not to post the lid, though. I'm not a lefty, but I do hold my pen weirdly. I love my Lamy CP1, but the weight may be wrong with posting. I love my Kaco retro pens, but they're not so easy to find now. I also like the Schneider Ray pen which has a lefty nib. It's larger than the other pens, but since it's plastic, it's light. Herbin also do a small transparent fountain pen and the nib should be okay for a lefty.

@TheDonsieLass@mas.to disclaimer: I do not know how these pens work for left handed people. But as someone that also has small, fatigue-prone hands, the Jinhao 9019 has a light chunky barrel that is incredibly comfortable to use. And the cap posts without extra burden too. I keep thinking: if my hands get worse as I get older, I can see myself switching to them exclusively.
