Depends on what the thing is I guess?
The electronics I build myself tend to suck. The wooden things are a mixed bag (but if I could buy those, I would have done) I suck at anything case/enclosure/chassis.

@dat If you enjoy the process it's still worth it IMO because you're getting practice at those things
