arguing that LLMs have feelings and experiences is an enemy of mankind.
I’m sure somebody said something related to Pygmalion. And Asimov has plenty of sentimental robots.

And you think these people were writing about LLMs? Science fiction AI and philosophy about “automotons” are completely different (and fictional) things from ChatGPT et al. Chatbots were trained on text. They literally have no concept of pain or suffering outside of the words used to describe those things.
