I've been testing the new #Jolla phone for a couple of days now. At the same time I'm documenting the experience and I will publish it as an honest review on my blog. So far I should say that it is a very smooth experience. Native app availavility is an issue, but because we xan install Android apps, situation is not bad at all. I installed Signal, WhatsApp, #DeltaChat and they all work very smoothly. Well done @jolla@techhub.social #SailfishOS

For those who are not familiar with the #SailfishOS, it is a RPM-based linux distribution that is "mostly" OpenSource (some UI and Android compatibility stuff and drivers are not [yet] FLOSS). SailfishOS itself has an official store with some apps such as email, calendar, and mastodon. It also supports opening Android apps (F-droid, Aura Store + microG). There are also other RPM stores that are not official such as Chum and OpenRepos, but these two more or less can suffer from AUR issues.

@Mehrad@fosstodon.org @jolla@techhub.social I have since upgrade to SFOS 5.1 no XMPP connection anymore with the normal SFOS-XMPP-Stack. I made a Ticket and hope for some help. I have on my own XMPP-Server with slidge.im transports to Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal and Matrix which was comfortable for my Jolla C2 Device.
