@eniko@peoplemaking.games Myst? Most adventure games are chill, but there's not much, you know, gameplay.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games every Kirby game after the invention of the Copy ability is pretty chill (I maintain that Kirby without Copy has awful vibes and also the games were more difficult but with worse pacing)

@eniko@peoplemaking.games What would you personally consider "chill" and would emulation be ok for you? Retro... hmmm. Nights Into Dreams (Sega Saturn/PC) Dragon Force (Sega Saturn) Myst (PC, imo the best point-and-click adventure game ever made. There's a remake but the original is also available on GoG, which I highly recommend getting) Heroes of Might And Magic 3 (PC) Fantasy General (PC) Chu Chu Rocket (DreamCast, pretty good puzzle game) Megaman Battle Network Series ("chill" is pretty subjective here, I think it is). Anno 1602 (don't get the steam version, get it on GoG). Dust: An Elysian Tail (PC, I think it's Chill and it's a pretty platformer!) I know you wanted Pokemon to be excluded but one that I will always recommend is "Mystery Dungeon", which I feel is a very cute spin on the game and often goes unmentioned on how good it actually is. There are many more I could recommend but I am fairly sure what I consider "chill" may not be chill for other folks c:

@eniko@peoplemaking.games Depends what you count as chill I suppose, I found the old Tony Hawk games pretty chill. Or 1080 Snowboarding on N64.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games I’m not sure how retro it counts as: it’s not very old, but it could have been implemented a decade or two earlier: Creeper World 3 is my favourite of the series. You are fighting some kind of nanotechnology goo thing, which means there is no enemy AI strategy: the goo appears from emitters and just flows across the map, filling up deeper areas first. In the player-provided maps, there are some ‘Coruncanis style’ that have an alternate play mode, where you don’t get any guns, just teraformers (which can raise or lower the level of walls) and there are flip emitters that produce creeper initially but anti creeper if they are flooded with anti creeper. It’s slow and relaxing in this mode, you’re just trying to replace blue puddles with white ones (or some other pair of colours if the map author changed the defaults). There’s a later variant that has stargates that teleport creeper, anti creeper, or both, across the map and have hats that can block endpoints.

@eniko@peoplemaking.games you already said sim city, but sim tower, earth, and ant also could be considered? Unsure if old spiderweb software games like Exile, Nethergate, Geneforge, Avernum, etc count... They're slow paced but about swords and sorcery style fantasy, for the most part Is katamari damacy retro? Is it chill or no chill at all? 🤔

@eniko@peoplemaking.games Nintendo released a number of Mario picross games. I’d say that qualifies, though the timer is a bit stress inducing at times.
