RE: https://mastodon.social/@benroyce/117307005469458400 🧵 1/ I see there are many people in the replies to this post getting upset and claiming this is an unspoken social requirement in interviews and that it's unfair to the neurodiverse. I did hundreds of interviews during my time in tech and I can state with 100% confidence that this is absolutely not a trap for neurodiverse people. It's easy to recognize nd candidates and account for social awkwardness or nervousness or whatever. It's tech! A lot of us are like that! ☺️ (cont...)

@lemay@mastodon.social this reminds me early google had a convention (policy?) that all engineering candidates had to be interviewed by at least one woman. Turns out some big fraction of candidates could not treat a woman as an equal and were therefore unhirable. This policy was hard on the women engineers, there weren't enough of them so they ended up with bigger interview loads. But the women I spoke to were all willing to take on the extra work just to keep the worst sexists out of the company.

@lemay@mastodon.social And no one cares if you are ND in a tech interview. If anything, ND is a super power in the tech world. People do however care if you are sexist or chauvinistic, as they should.
