@alice Ah. I admit, I did imagine that to refer to someone not listening to an explicit "I'm not interested" rather than an expectation that the initiator plainly ask first. Advice like "open with a compliment" made it sound like you were saying not to preface said compliment with "I like you would you be receptive to flirting" or something.
