@chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org Hi Chad, As a long term Linux user (1990's) I am growing disenchanted with the steadily creeping IBM/Redhat monoculture being forced upon users, so I am interested in hearing folk's experiences with alternatives. As I see it FreeBSD is the best choice for Desktops with FreeBSD & OpenBSD both good for Servers and NetBSD occupying a more niche position.
Was the recent announcement by NetBSD disavowing LLM generated code your reason for trying?

@Bahay@social.vivaldi.net @chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org FreeBSD would be the easiest move but unfortunately they are riding the fence with AI.

@Bahay@social.vivaldi.net @chadmccullough@mastodon.bsd.cafe @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org really depends on your hardware. for me and my thinkpads I went with OpenBSD because FreeBSD just wasn't great with the audio and wificards on them. if you're wired in via ethernet FreeBSD should be fine. I also had issues with some logitech devices on FreeBSD. on OpenBSD no issues.
