Linux is far too big and far too critical to be held to the whims of one man. Decisions like the one he just made should have been discussed by a board, proposals should have been put forward, and stakeholders should have voted.

Even people who have little to kontribute would be helping by adding to the people count, which helps send a message to potential kontributors that this is the place where people who want an alternative to Linux without Linus' ego are migrating.
