With the help from some great folks here in the Fediverse, I was finally able to get @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org installed on both my desktop (Dell Optiplex) and laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad T14). I'm posting this from the desktop! Still unable to to get wireless working on the laptop but I am sure a USB wireless adapter will resolve this. I'm going to give this a try later today. My move away from my beloved Linux is moving forward. Thank you to Torvalds and other projects who have ruined it for me after 30+ years. It's sad that I'm moving away, but I know it's the right decision (for me, anyway). Updates coming, and will probably bore you to death. #bsd #netbsd #noAI

@chadmccullough@bsd.cafe it is indeed sad we've been let down so painfully badly. But, let's look at the hope the future brings us We get to be part of the process to get newer hardware compatible with @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org and others of a similar ethos, to make it the new baseline for freedom respecting people.

Especially since I’m also getting more and more annoyed by the direction Linux and various projects are taking. My FreeBSD has been running smoothly on my old ThinkPad for years now—it’s the only system that’s been up and running continuously since I installed it. How many times have I had to reinstall all my other computers a dozen times over during that time... Anyway, I wish you continued success and, above all, motivation as you make the switch to BSD!
