The Borg features I'm using are:
* Stores on local (USB) or remote (ssh→USB) hard disk
* Command-line interface with no daemon (which would be a problem with USB hot-plugged manually-mounted backup drives)
* Encryption
* Deduplication
* Keeps historical backups with pruning (yearly, monthly, etc)
* Preserves ACLs and extended attributes
* Auto-excludes files with nodump flag
* Auto-excludes folders with CACHEDIR.TAG
* Can mount backup volumes (FUSE)

@argv_minus_one@mastodon.sdf.org I don't know about the last few, but burp (https://burp.grke.org/) has served me well for many years.

for what its worth, I use rsnapshot, and btrfs snapshots. If not for those two, I just use tar&rsync- like the good ol' days. however, only recently have I been opt'ing to use a FS that supports snapshots. My desktop hardware's storage I don't honestly care much about. Its all the server hardware that keeps me up at night. :) Cheers -Nate
