@kerravonsen@mastodon.au for some peeps, there'll be no attraction. for others maybe it depends on their "linux stage"? eg, me... i love arch, but in recent years i began recognising that i was beginning to feel a sense of burden in place of the earlier frisson of thrill associated with doing the routine system maintenance plus the troubleshooting when some updates didn't go quite right. when i first began hearing of immutables some years ago [quite a bit later than they'd actually been around, yet still a few years ago now], initially my interest was simply coz it was something shiny shiny new for me to explore & learn about as an exercise in intellectual curiosity [the same reason i've never stopped distrohopping via vm's; i just enjoy learning about stuff], but gradually, bit by bit, as i learned more, conceived altered workflow paradigms that would allow them to meld to me, and as that tedium of the routine mutable maintenance began growing, i began seeing a direct attraction for daily usage. fwiw. @gnuplusmatt@fosstodon.org

@kerravonsen@mastodon.au @MsDropbear42@infosec.space I got old, I like my base being bulletproof and anything I do for tinkering, scripting or deploying I do in a container where if it breaks I can destroy the container without destroying my system. I'm too tired for system breaking changes
