American capitalism is essentially pure grift at this point. Nearly every ad is either for sports gambling or AI, with a few weight loss drugs sprinkled in for good measure.

@benlockwood@ecoevo.social I was talking with a physicist friend a while back about this, and especially the horrible lack of ethics intrinsic to the rise of "prediction markets". American society is just such a petty, stupid dystopia. A real bleak, Philip K. Dick vibe to everything at the moment.
