"Meta’s AI glasses have all sorts of alleged use cases. The real use case is the market of creeps and weirdos who film people out and about without their consent." "And Meta is now in an arms race with its actual paying customers." https://pivot-to-ai.com/2026/07/09/metas-new-ai-creep-glasses-will-record-24-7-without-a-light/ It's worth following @davidgerard@circumstances.run and listening to his podcast. He researches the horror so you don't have to. #privacy #surveillancecapitalism

@mason@partychickens.net @davidgerard@circumstances.run I have studied photography and am often seen with my camera. The first thing to say about consent for taking pictures is that none is needed in public places (well where i live anyway). There are, of course, exceptions such as children or people who obviously take offence. Where these glasses come into play is the sneaky way they capture images without anyone being aware. My next concern is what Meta does with all the information collected.

@mason@partychickens.net @davidgerard@circumstances.run the mass market in smart glasses is going to be cameraless or it's going to be nothing. I hope this saved someone several billion dollars, please send my cut to Greenpeace.
