DOT Sec. is reporting the outage as caused by an accidental fiber cut by construction crew. Nothing about primary or backup circuits.
The Secretary is blaming this on lack of funding. Really?
:eyeroll:
OTOH, FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said the primary circuit in Philadelphia TRACON failed. The backup line also had a break.

NYT has some more details. The failed primary circuit was based on "radio communications" at a center in Philadelphia. The backup fiber optic line had been cut by a construction crew. Date and time of damage is unknown. The cut was discovered after the main system failed. The damage is to a 600-foot section of the line between New Brunswick, N.J., and Newark. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/21/us/east-coast-flights-ground-stop-communication-failure.html 3/n
