Stupid #a11y question. What is best to use for each release of a discography page? Each release element contains the cover art, album name, release date and type (full-length studio album, single, live, etc.). Should this element be a `figure` with the text info in the `figcaption`? Should it be an `article` with the name being a heading? Should it be a `li`? What is best? Any good resources on this? #accessibility #html

  • @anatudor@mastodon.social So I think it would be good to have it as some kind of a list, since the elements are related and part of a group. Other than that, I’d say: keep it simple.

@anatudor@mastodon.social Not a stupid question, but also not one where there is a clear “best” answer. Maybe just use headings plus details in paragraphs or a list? Or a list with headings? I honestly don’t think it matters much. You can wrap all headings+rest in articles, but I would not label them (hence they would not be explictly read by screen readers, IIRC). As long as it makes structural/logical sense, you are pretty flexible in the markup.

@anatudor@mastodon.social I would go with a collection of articles. Think of it a list of products in a webshop. Discography: Album title ...
